If only I had a personalised travel clock
It was the worst day of my life. I lost my phone, I crashed my car and my boyfriend broke up with me. If only I had woken up on time. If only I had bought that personalised travel clock none of this would have happened.
I had gone out with some friends that evening and it was a wonderful night. The wine was flowing and the music was brilliant. My friend Mandy was celebrating her 30th birthday in style. We had a limo to the club and were dressed in our favourite little black dresses. My boyfriend met me at the club and we enjoyed each other’s company until the early hours of the morning. When the club closed we all went our separate ways having had the night of our lives.
I was getting ready for bed when I realised I did not have my phone. I tried desperately to think where I might have left it but as I was still suffering the effects of far too much wine, I could not recall where it might have been. That flagged another problem; my phone was my alarm clock. I had to be at work for a meeting first thing, if only I had bought the personalised travel clock I had seen earlier in the week. Now I was stuck with no phone and no alarm.
Eventually I resolved myself to hoping I would wake up in time to get ready for work. After all, they say we all have an internal body clock so it surely would be fine. If only I had known that not having an alarm set would cause me to have the worst day of my life. If only I had that personalised travel clock!
It was five past nine when I awoke. As I rubbed my eyes and had a stretch I suddenly realised what day it was. I was late! I could not believe I had done this. I didn't shower or eat, I just threw on the first thing I saw, grabbed my keys and headed out the door. I jumped in my car and raced down the street. But in my haste I went through a crossroads and suddenly found myself spinning. I had been hit as I went through. Although I was fine and the other driver was only shaken up, I had made a real mess of my car’s bumper. I stood there in shock as the police asked me what happened.
If only I had the personalised alarm clockbeside this morning. I would have been up on time and none of this would be happening. I was taken to the hospital just for a check up after the accident and while I was there I asked them if I could ring my boyfriend to tell him what had happened. When he answered he was very cross. He started shouting and telling me a man rang from my phone last night. Before I could even say a word he said we were finished and put the phone down. I stood there in shock and disbelief. If I had only woken up on time. If only I had that personalised travel clock beside me this morning.
On my way home that day, I stopped and bought myself a personalised travel clock. I had had the worst day of my life and it all started with waking up late. I decided that day never to sleep in again. That was 20 years ago and to this day I still have that personalised travel clock. It goes with me everywhere. I learned my lesson and I will never be late again.
