Greener by far than shopping by car: Shop direct with The Original Gift Company
According to independent surveys, the carbon footprint of Shopping Direct from home is up to 24 times lower than shopping by car.
Our statistics were taken from a research paper conducted by Professor Alan McKinnon of Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh under the terms of the Government Green Initiative (July 2009).
- This statement is only relevant for non food purchases and is based on one purchase at a time, but does allow for multiple purchases based on the Government average stats.
- It does take into effect returns and non deliveries and call backs.
- Survey uses statistics provided by the Government.
- Based on an average round trip journey of 12 miles.
This research was conducted on behalf of a larger project called Green Logistics Project - funded by the Government's Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council involving six universities. This paper was entitled: Comparative Analysis of the Carbon Footprint of Conventional and Online Retailing.
